The biodiesel production facility of Energia Verde is located in Strejesti (15 km north of Slatina) and has a capacity of 8 million litres/year of top-quality biodiesel. Over 75% of the raw materials (rapeseed and sunflower) are self produced within our own farm.
Energia Verde relies on state-of-the-art German and Swedish technology in order to meet all the tough requirements of the EN-14214 standards for bio-diesel. Biodiesel is an excellent substitute for fossil diesel that is derived from oilseeds, like Sunflower or Rapeseed. It is an alternative fuel that can be used in virtually all diesel engines and provides power similar to conventional diesel fuel.
Biodiesel can help reduce both emissions of GHG (greenhouse gas) and dependence on foreign oil imports. As such, it enjoys special tax exemptions (zero excises) and other privileges in most European countries – including Romania – as part of the EC policy to support the diffusion of biofuels.
